This animated poem in progress came about through a character design drawing prompt as part of an internship program  in 2019 and began as a narrative poem about a little  sister and her relationship with her older sister. The poem initially considered the bond between siblings. I observed a parallel between a maternal bond and followed the path exploring this relationship. In the process I thought about how it might feel not to have a living and breathing mother figure present in one's life, and so the notion of Mother Nature as an ever present caregiver came to mind. The concept of a kind of compassion greater than the tangible came to mind and so I began conflating ideas around the physical as well as the spiritual.
